Hello again everyone!! It’s RDKamikaze again, sorry I haven’t been posting often with a bunch of updates for you all. I have been super busy ever since college had finals and after that, looking for and finding a job.

However, I have had to put down my programming for Soup or Root for another side income I have been pursuing: forex. I have been programming a LOT for a program that trades automatically and blah blah, but if you’re interested at all feel free to ask about that! Here’s the process of my robot (so you can see how I’m doing and follow along yourself for free) as I want to help you all!

Anyway, be advised that I do want to work on Soup or Root again but I had to learn yet ANOTHER programming language for the forex program (C#) so please continue to be patient with me. I know that Soup or Root 2.06 Beta had some bugs with certain people (which I’m still trying to figure out, but haven’t tried lately to fix) so I’ll make sure I get it to be better supported for *mostly* everyone (as I don’t know if EVERYONE is possible).

HUGE shout out of thanks to all those who have donated so far!!! I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate it as it helped me get through college, get married, and motivated me to come back and help the community once again!!

Again, I’ll be working with Soup or Root after I reach a good working point with my forex auto-trading robot. I HIGHLY recommend you check it out and sign-up to follow me as I trade with yours and my money (as it’s free for you) and you can make some extra side money for no worries!

As always, thanks for coming back to see the update and be sure to check back once I start working on the project some more!!

Okay everyone, you’ve been waiting for it, so now’s your chance!! In the past, you may have not been able to root your Droid for some ridiculous reason; the program could fail, a file could not be found, whatever. Well I’m here to tell you that I have made my code light, efficient, and super fool-proof so that essentially all errors are now PEBKAC!! AWESOME!!! 😀 😀

Anyway, you are probably wanting to see the awesomeness happen. Unfortunately, as of tonight I don’t have a video of Soup or Root 2.06 Beta in action (plus I don’t have a Droid anymore, that’s where donating comes in to play! :D) so you’ll have to wait for that to come out in the future. But don’t worry, I will still give you simple instructions as always!!

How to Root:

  1. Download Soup or Root 2.06 Beta Here!!
  2. Turn on USB Debugging (NOT USB STORAGE) on your Droid!!  (remember, Droid 1 only)
  3. If you haven’t installed Motorola’s Drivers yet, click “Install Drivers” in Soup or Root.
  4. Once the Driver Installation completes, make sure your Droid is plugged in and press “Root Me!!!”
  5. When you are rooting, nothing will appear to be happening.  Don’t worry, just wait!!  Don’t press “Root Me” more times before the confirmation window pops up to let you know rooting is done.
  6. Check to see if Superuser is in your app tray on your Droid.  What do you know, it’s there!!  You are now rooted 🙂  If not, then reboot your Droid and try again.
  7. Donate to RDKamikaze for all his hard work into this project!!

Download Soup or Root 2.06 Beta Here!!!

Howdy everyone!!  I guess I’m not getting rid of this blog as fast as I thought (some errors with the server, I will find a new one soon though) so here’s the newest version of Soup or Root!!

Download Soup or Root 2.05 Extreme Beta rev. 1 Now!!!

It should work flawlessly and be 100% stable, but since I don’t have a Droid anymore (still working on it) then I can’t say for sure, but a couple of people have tried with great success!!

As always, remember to please donate when Soup or Root works for you!! 😀

Soup or Root has moved!!!

EDIT 10-20-2010:  SOUP OR ROOT IS NOT MOVING!!!  This current server I’m on sucks!!!

Howdy everyone!!  Thanks for all your views and even a comment so far, I’m happy to inform you that Soup or Root’s official blog will be moving!!

Why move?

Well, Soup or Root’s blog is moving for mainly one reason: to get WordPress plugins!

That’s right, to have plugins you must have your own website, so I decided to move my blog to a free domain in order to get the desired plugins that make blogging AWESOME!!!  Here’s the link to my new blog, be sure to update your RSS Feeds and Bookmarks!! 😀

Thanks to all those who have been donating for my time, I have spent countless hours making Soup or Root so that you could all enjoy it!!

Features in Soup or Root’s new blog:

  • The same awesome background and setup
  • A FORUM for posting Q&A!!! 😀 😀 😀
  • Better tracking
  • More bells and whistles on admin-side that you all don’t have to worry about 😉

Again, my blog is located right here, so please go to it often!!

Okay guys, I need someone’s help! I have a new idea that was presented to me to make this much more stable but I don’t have a Droid anymore!!  If you’re wondering where it went, I gave it to my girlfriend’s brother who was recently hit by a semi and lost his iPod Touch, so I let him have my Droid as an upgrade 😉

So here’s my question:

Who wants to be my extreme beta tester?

Being my extreme beta tester would require a few things:
1. Willing to reflash your Droid (if already rooted) to stock with RSD Lite
2. Willing to try something that *may* (but 99.99999% chance will not) brick your Droid (no different than if you tried any of my rooting options lol!)
3. Familiar with cmd just in case something goes sour
4. Has google talk so we can chat as you do the work
5. Really it’s not much to be worried about, I just need a body with a Droid lol!
6. Common sense is a MUST!!! (dirr.. )

If so, please post a reply and we’ll work something out for you to test my latest idea that could turn into a version!! 😀

Soup or Root 2.04 Beta Released!!

Howdy everyone!!  RDKamikaze here to let you know about Soup or Root for your Droid 1!!  I just decided to start a blog today as it would be easier to catch up with updates and new versions that come out(woot for RSS Feeds!!), so here it is!!
What is Soup or Root?
Soup or Root is a program I have been developing that has one goal in mind: root the Droid 1 (up to FRG22D FroYo 2.2 OS so far)  with the click of a button.
Soup or Root has been in development for a few months now and has come a loooong way.  It started as a ghetto command-prompt style program, then moved up to VBScript and ultimately to AutoIt 3 with a beautiful GUI to make rooting feel easier 🙂  Yes, I have had a lot of languages to learn and have had quite the experience so now you can enjoy!!
As of this post, Soup or Root 2.04 Beta is the most recent release, while Soup or Root 1.8rA (revision A) is the latest “stable” release.  However, I think 2.04 Beta is more stable as some people still have problems with 1.8rA but my goal is to make it root successfully 100% of the time.
Now that you know who I am and what I’m doing, feel free to try Soup or Root!!  It’s only for the Droid 1 as of now (due to command changes for other Android phones) so please don’t try this if you have any other version!!  It should work for the milestone wince it’s the same hardware, but I can’t guarantee it.
How it works:  Watch this video below (it explains 2.01 Beta but isn’t much different) and it will tell you everything you need to know about rooting your Droid!!
Steps to rooting:
1. Turn on USB Debugging on your Droid (Home>Menu>Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging)
3. If it’s your first time ever rooting, download the Motorola Drivers inside Soup or Root (there’s a button in 2.04 for it)
4. Plug in your Droid (USB Storage OFF) and press “Root Me!!!” (it takes about 3 minutes)
This is for Windows-based computers only, and Mac support is being looked into for future development.  If you know how to program for Macintosh and would love to help me and the community, please send me a message!!
